THE PROBLEM
In SkySlope, auditors at a brokerage are responsible for reviewing the paperwork for properties before a sale or purchase can be completed. When we asked auditors how they currently divvy up work, they told us they split up properties by discussing as a group and choosing something like an agent, office, or even the page it’s on (isn’t that wild?). How can provide an easier way for auditors keep track of their work?
I went wide, exploring multiple ways we could do this
from the introduction of notifications to an entirely new
page customized for each auditor. After discussing with internal and external stakeholders, I scaled back and brought forward two ideas.
Option 1: Add the ability to save a filtered view on the list of properties so auditors can set it up to only see files that they are usually given.
Option 2: New functionality to assign properties to an auditor in the system.

After reviewing the options with the product owner and development team, it was determined that we would move forward with option 2, assigning a reviewer. We felt that it got closer to the root of the problem, which was a very manual process of talking through work division. With assignment, an auditor can own a property and all other auditors can see who is responsible for what work.

This project was a good
reminder for me that sometimes
the simplest solution is the
best solution.
